Senior Chatter
More programs scheduled at
the senior center in January
BY PHYLLIS BRONKEMA
My, how time flies. It's
almost the middle of Janu-
ary already.
After last week's teas-
ers about the Senior Cen-
ter's upcoming events, I'm
happy to report some more
definite information about
some of the programs. A
Christmas angel tree orna-
ment class will be offered
free of charge, at the Cen-
ter on Monday, Jan. 26, at
1 p.m.
The instructor 'for this
one-day class will be Karen
Spragg. Participants will
be asked to provide sever-
al items for the class. If this
sounds like fun or of inter-
est, call or stop by the Con-
ter to find the list of items
needed and/or to see exam-
ples of the craft to be made.
February often makes
one think of Healthy Heart
Month. Public Health will be
offering free lunchtime blood
pressure checks at the Cen-
ter on three Thursdays: Feb-
ruary 5, 12 and 26. Commu-
nity members are invited
to eat and to see how their
pressures are doing.
The AARP Founda-
tion will be offering free tax
aid, starting on Thursday,
Feb. 26. If any seniors have
questions or concerns about
this year's taxes, the center
will be setting up appoint-
ments to address these
concerns.
