Tagging clinics offered this week
In order to accommodate 4-H
members who are entering a 4-H Mar-
ket Beef Project this year, Big Horn
County 4-H has scheduled to tagging
clinics this week.
In order to be eligible to take a 4-H
Market Beef Project, youth must be
enrolled in market beef, have posses-
sion of the animal or animals and de-
clare ownership of the project animals.
Proof of ownership must be shown at
tagging time. A bill of sale or Form A
brand inspection will work.
There are two tagging clinics
available:
• Thursday, Jan. 29, Bassett
Farm near Lovell, 3-5 pm.
• Saturday, Jan. 31, Big Horn
County Fairgrounds in Basin, 9 a.m.-
noon.

Speech team competes
at Worland meet
BY BRAD DEVEREAUX
The Lovell/Rocky Moun-
tain speech team traveled
to Worland twice this week-
end for a two-day meet.
Leaving Lovell at 9 a.m.
Friday, the speech team ar-
rived in Worland for a day
of tough competition and
got back on the bus, arriv-
ing back in Lovell at 10:30
p.m. Early Saturday morn-
ing at about 6:15 a.m., the
team once again loaded
onto a bus to make another
trip down to Worland to fin-
ish out the contest.
Coach Patti Hutchinson
said every attending team
member was dressed in nice
clothes and arrived on time,
which said a lot about the
team's dedication.
Kris Hutchinson placed
sixth for an original oratory
speech he delivered about
tougher penalties for sex of-
fenders.
Stepfanie Thompson
placed fourth for a drama
piece about a distraught
young single mother who
ends up suffocating her own
child.
"She is so good at por-
traying through emotions
and actions to bring out the
horror this young moth-
er is dealing with," Coach
Hutchinson said.
A duet of Stephanie
Cuch and Bobbi Sprague
broke into the semi-final
round. The performance
was impressive, Hutchin-
son said, being only the sec-
ond time performed in com-
petition.
Other team members
are young and doing well,
Hutchinson said. They have
been placing higher at every
contest and are beginning to
look more polished. Seven
team members competed in
Worland: Kris Hutchinson,
Thompson, Cuch, Sprague,
Chaelynn Averett and Em-
ily and Elizabeth Birkholz.
After a week off, the
team will head to Casper
Natrona for a large meet
with about 20 other
schools.
