Helping
LoveN! Youth
Prepare for
Excellence
BY BRAD DEVEREAUX
HYPE performances
in north Big Horn County
and Powell this week lived
up to all the hype that or-
ganizer Randy Davis said
they would. The Hyart per-
formance Monday drew a
crowd of more than 650
people and all of the young
people in attendance gave
it positive reviews, Davis
said.
"We were really pleased
with how everything went,"
Davis said. "The kids re-
sponded well."
The response was so
great that Davis said he
would made good on his
promise to highlight his
hair Lovell blue. He said he
would a second color, pink,
because attendance was so
high.
Davis said he has been
talking to the group about
holding training sessions
to teach local students how
to do some of the featured
elements of the HYPE per-
formances. Students who
receive training could then
train other students and
put on similar presenta-
tions of their own locally
to help more youth prepare
for excellence.
"Some kids out there
may not think they have a
talent," Davis said. "HYPE
shows them they may not
be good at one thing but
they are good at some-
thing. Training sessions
could help them to find out
what their talents are."
Performances at local
school assemblies stressed
the importance of confi-
dence and respect for oth-
ersnd respect for elfhnd.
The lessons were tfirown in
with plenty of entertaining
dances, skits and percus-
sion performances.
The performers are in
their late teens or early
20s, Davis said. The HYPE
program is based in Okla-
homa. For more informa-
