With Saturday's Bill
Gerrard Invitational in
Greybull cancelled, local
track and field coaches are
now turning their atten-
tion to Saturday's Yellow-
stone Sports Medicine Invi-
tational in Cody to get the
2010 outdoor track season
kicked off.
Greybull officials can-
celled the meet Friday af-
ternoon due to cold and wet
weather hitting the area
that day.
"I'm disappointed we
didn't get a meet in," Lovell
coach Joe Koritnik said.
"The kids are anxious to get
out and compete."
Both the Lovell and
Rocky Mountain high
school teams are scheduled
to compete Saturday in
Cody. The meet begins at
10:30 a.m Koritnik said.
"The Cody meet is a ju-
nior varsity-varsity meet,
so it's broken up into divi-
sions where kids compete
against kids of their own
ability, so it's good for our
young athletes," Koritnik
said.
Next on the schedule is
the Worland Twilight Meet
on Tuesday, March 30, at
2:30 p.m. Lovell is sched-
uled to attend the meet, but
Rocky Mountain's partici-
pation was still up in the
air as of Tuesday morning,
coach Dave Beemer said.
The teams will break
for the Easter weekend, and
a tentative Lovell quadran-
gular meet on April 6 has
been cancelled. Both teams
are scheduled to attend the
Wind River Invitational on
Friday, April 9, in Pavil-
lion.
Middle school thinclads
are also practicing and are
scheduled to see their first
action of the season next
Tuesday, March 30, at the
Easter Bunny Classic in
Greybull. Action begins at
4 p.m.
