The Powell Swim

meet at the Lovell pool on
Saturday, April 17. Thirty
swimmers competed in
an unsanctioned open-
category, sprint meet.
The Lovell satellite
team started practice in
February, and this was
the first USA Swimming
meet for most of the Lovell
athletes.
"With a combination
of Lovell Middle School
swimmers and our new
younger swimmers, we
have a good group of
athletes who applied their
new skills at this practice
meet," said coach Pat
Parmer. "I was happy with
the kids' times. There were

MORE SWIMMERS
The Lovell team
currently operates as a
satellite site of the Powell
Swim Club. While grateful
for Powell's support, coach
Parmer believes that with
more year-round swimmers
that Love]] can support its
own club.
"Swimming is a
fantastic activity," Parmer
said. "I know people who
swam competitively when
they were children, and
have continued swimming
well into their 70s and
80s, either competing in
US Masters Swimming or
for fitness. We have the
biggest obstacle overcome
in starting a club, the pool.
All we need now is more
swimmers and parents who
believe in the sport."
COMING UP
The meet schedule is
a little thin this summer,
Parmer said, but the
Powell Swim Club will
host their annual summer
meet with a full slate of
long course events July
17-18 in the new Powell
Aquatic Center located at
Homesteader Park. Other
meets are scheduled in
southern Wyoming. Due
to maintenance at the
Campbell County Aquatic
Center in Gillette, the
only long course pool in
Wyoming, the state meet is
set for Fort Collins, Colo.,
on July 30 to Aug. 1. Visit
wyomingswimming.org for
information.
After a break for
maintenance at the Lovell
pool, practices resume
June 1 at 4:30 p.m. in the
Lovell pool. Contact coach
Pat Parmer or coach Ross
Fuller for more information
or check the Website at
powellswim.usswim.net.
