Jamesons purchase Better Body Fitness
BY DAVID PECK
There's been a chang-
ing of the guard at the Bet-
ter Body Fitness workout
center in downtown Lovell
with the purchase of the
business by Mike and Cris-
ty Jameson and Michael
and Stormy Jameson.
The business was start-
ed by Chad and Lindsay
Lindsay and partners Kev-
in Walker and Jodi Lind-
say in 2005. Steve Hult-
gren bought the business
a few years ago, and after
he returned it to the origi-
nal owners, the Jamesons
stepped up this spring to
purchase the business, tak-
ing over operations on May
20. They have purchased
"the business, the building
and everything in it," Cris-
ty Jameson said.
Since then, the fami-
ly has been painting and
checking and servicing
equipment, also adding new
flat screen TVs for custom-
ers to watch while working
out.
Stormy Jameson is the
office manager and Mi-
chael Jameson is the gen-
eral manager, the family
said.
"We were looking for
something like this," Cris-
ty said, noting the flexibil-
ity of owning a business
family members aren't tied
to for hours at time.
"They (the original
owners) really set this up
nicely," Cristy said. "We
don't have to be here every
second."
Cristy said there are
two things the new owners
are looking forward to: a
new energy-efficient light-
ing system to be installed
by electrician Tim Brosius,
which will include motion
sensors so lights will go
off when the last custom-
er leaves, and possible new
equipment.
Better Body Fitness op-
erates with memberships.
Members are given a key
fob that can open the front
door, allowing members to
come to the facility when-
ever their schedule allows,
24 hours a day. Daily pass-
es are also available for
selected portions of time,
such as when a visitor is in
town and wants to keep up
a workout regimen.
Michael Jameson said
the family will continue to
make the facility available
to local student athletes
free of charge from 3:30 to
5 p.m. under the supervi-
sion of a lifting coach.
"A lot of kids have tak-
en advantage of that," Mi-
chael said.
Under the new man-
agement, Better Body Fit-
ness now includes walk-
ing treadmills, elliptical
machines and a climb-
er separate from the run-
ning treadmills. The for-
mer ladies room has been
converted into an area
for Zumba and CrossFit
training. A variety of lift-
ing equipment remains in
the rear of the facility, and
the facility has a kick box-
ing trainer and a dead lift
station.
Cristy Jameson said
the family is simply tweak-
ing a great system already
put in place by the Lind-
says and Walker.
"Lovell's really lucky
they did it when they did
and how they did it," she
said. "They did a really
great job."
