board, special district seats
BY DAVID PECK
Interested in serving on the school
board, hospital board or any other spe-
cial district board of directors? Filing for
school and special district boards begins
next Wednesday, Aug. 8, and continues
through Monday, Aug. 27.
There are three seats coming open on
the North Big Horn Hospital Board, at-
large seats currently held by Chad Lind-
say and Don Minchow and a designated
Lovell seat held by Ruthann Holzer.
Three seats are up for election on the
School District No. 1 Board of Trustees,
an at-large seat held by Brett Crosby, a
designated Deaver-Frannie seat held by
Joan Zier and a designated Byron seat
held by Ed Riding.
There are four seats coming open on
the Lovell School Board held by Dan An-
derson, Matt Bassett, Tracy Beal and
Rebecca Moncur.
Also up for election are seats the
North Big Horn Senior Citizen Ser-
vice District Board of Trustees held by
Ron McClure, Loretta Tippetts, Deuane
Calvin, Barbara Walker, and Verna
Hawkins, as well as various cemetery,
fire district and conservation district
boards.
School Board candidates file with
the Big Horn County Clerk's Office in
Basin, and candidates for other district
seats file with their district secretary or
the clerk's office.
All of the special district and school
board seats will be elected at the Gen-
eral Election on November 6.
School District No. 1 Secretary Gen-
evieve Mann said the current board
members up for re-election were giv-
en election forms to fill out at the July
school board meeting, and Crosby filled
his out. Zier is also seeking re-election to
the board, Mann said.
Byron trustee Riding, who has served
for eight years, does not plan to run for
re-election, his wife Julie said Wednes-
day morning.
District Two Supt. Dan Coe said
the four Lovell trustees up for re-elec-
tion have told him they are considering
whether to seek re-election but have not
said whether they will or not.

Mary Liz Langley says "Many people don't survive what I've been through simply because of their insurance
coverage, but I'm having extra birthdays thanks to Blue Cross."
Reflecting on 40+ years of coverage, husband Ron says, "Blue Cross Blue Shield gives the kind of extra
service you'd expect to find in a neighborhood family-run business. In fact, I feel like they're part of our family."
